The Rest of the Thread
- Despereaux goes off to find the Threadmaster. He tells the Threadmaster that he needs the rest of the thread so that he can save the princess.
- When the Threadmaster asks how he's going to do that, Despereaux explains that he'll use the thread in the same way that Gregory used the rope around his ankle to guide him to the entrance of the dungeons.
- The Threadmaster, who says that his name is Hovis, gives Despereaux the entire spool of thread for his quest. He also breaks the thread that he'd tied around Despereaux's neck. He wants the world to know that Despereaux is free, and isn't going into the dungeons because he's been banished.
