Great Expectations Chapter Twenty-Six Summary

  • The boys dine at Jaggers’.
  • Pip notices how Jaggers has an ability to bring out the worst in those around him. Thus, the boys start quarreling among themselves. Pip accuses Drummle of never having repaid Startop for money he had lent him.
  • Jaggers tell Pip to steer clear of Drummle in the future. He christens Drummle, "the spider," and actually really likes this butthead. Go figure. Only Jaggers.
  • Pip pays close attention to Molly. She is very weird and quiet. She seems to be afraid of Jaggers. Jaggers grabs her by the arm at one point to show his dinner guests her scarred hands and arms. He shows them how strong her wrists are.
  • The boys are perplexed.
