Their movie theater is mentioned a couple of times because it became the target of some anti-Japanese sentiment in the wake of Pearl Harbor. Unaware that there was a planned blackout in effect (in case of attack), the Ichiyamas' marquee was still lit. Otto Willets and some friends went and unscrewed all the light bulbs in the marquee, and then they drove to the Ichiyamas' house to rail at them for not knowing about the blackout.
