The Sign of the Beaver Chapter 14 Summary

  • When Robinson Crusoe ends (at least the half of it that Matt shared), Matt and Attean are both bummed; Attean tells Matt that he tells the stories to his brothers at his camp.
  • A light bulb goes off for Matt, and he decides to tell Attean stories from the Bible—now there's some great action.
  • He starts with the story of Noah and the flood, and Attean completely surprises him by responding with a similar story from the Beaver clan.
  • Matt asks Attean about the God-like figure in his story—Gluskabe—and Attean tells him that Gluskabe was a hunter who created all things, including the Indians and the animals.
  • Matt's got a lot of food for thought, and he chews on the idea that the Indians know about the great flood and ponders Gluskabe.
