The Body of Christopher Creed Chapter 10 Summary

  • In the police station that night, Torey sits next to his mom, who isn't freaking out on him but he's scared anyway.
  • In another room, Bo is shouting that he doesn't have to answer any questions. Ali sits next to Torey and cries when she hears what sounds like police officers beating Bo up.
  • Torey demands that his mom stop it, but she says they are doing what they have to get Bo to talk, and that they're not hurting him.
  • Then he tells his mom to help Bo, that he's innocent and that Mrs. Creed is trying to blame a murder on him.
  • Mom's not having it, though. She knows all about Bo's record and tells Torey not to get attached to someone like him, adding in that she pays a lot in taxes to send Torey to a great school so he should act like it.
  • Mrs. Creed is there, too, in another room but screaming at Bo all the while, saying that when he gets the death penalty, she will be there to pull the switch on the electric chair. Geez, lady.
  • Torey can't stand much more chaos.
  • Just then, his mom goes to talk to the chief of police to see if they are being charged with anything.
  • No, they aren't yet, but the chief wants to be told that neither Ali nor Torey made the phone call to the Creeds. He says that a neighbor saw Bo running toward the house and that it didn't seem like he broke in at all, and neither of the Creed kids heard anything.
  • The chief hints majorly that they should lie and pin the whole thing on Bo.
  • Just in time, before Torey goes off on the man, Mrs. Adams (Torey's mom) steps in and asks to talk to the chief alone.
  • While the kids wait for her, Bo tells them to let him take the blame for all of it since they're going to pin Creed on him anyway. Torey and Ali are like, no way, though, and Torey says his mom can help Bo.
  • Afterward, his mom comes out and says she is taking Torey and Ali home, and Bo has to stay there overnight, but he is allowed to leave in the morning if his mom gets him.
  • He's not charged with anything big. Yet.
  • It seems like Mrs. Adams is softening up toward Bo a bit. And when Bo asked Mrs. Adams to pick up Greg and take the McDermott kids to stay at Torey's house for a bit, she agrees.
