The Body of Christopher Creed Chapter 9 Summary

  • Outside, Bo lights a cigarette and Torey asks him what his plan is. Bo doesn't have one, and actually tells Torey that he's been caught every single time he's tried to break in to a house. He's no good at it and never has a plan.
  • Um… that doesn't bode well.
  • Curious, Torey asks why Bo cares about this enough to break in for the diary. Good question.
  • Torey notices a curtain move in someone's window but doesn't see anyone.
  • Smoking his cig, Bo tells him that he caught wind of the note while waiting for a detention in the principal's office that Thursday. So he and Ali snuck up to the library and found the email and copied it onto a disk to read later. He put it into his locker.
  • Now he thinks they'll find it and nail him for writing it, even though he didn't. Then he'd go to jail.
  • As it sinks in, Torey thinks this is a sad and terrible story.
  • Bo is scared that if anyone finds out about Ali dating him, she'll get into major trouble, too, and maybe they'll think she wrote the note. And he hasn't even had sex with Ali.
  • Funny, Torey thinks, and doesn't believe him at first.
  • Okay, so this is an important mission, but Torey thinks this guy's going to get caught.
  • But then he gets a good idea: he tells Bo about this mystery movie, and how someone should call the house to get the Creeds to leave so that Bo can break in with no one home. Torey volunteers to make the call.
  • Scared out of his wits, Torey almost goes to Ali's to make the call, but Bo reminds him that they can trace calls. He has to use the pay phone at the ball field. So he runs and tries to come up with something to say.
  • Once there, he gets a creepy spooked feeling again. He makes the call.
  • Disguising his voice in a raspy weird way, he tells Mrs. Creed to come to the ball field with her husband if she wants info about Chris. And he tells her to bring money just to make it more authentic.
  • Mrs. Creed goes off on him and he is so scared he pees his pants.
  • High-tailing it home, he feels like the dumbest person on earth: he didn't give her an amount of money, he didn't wipe off the fingerprints, and he could totally get caught for this. At home, he is positive his plan will fall apart.
