Character Analysis
Dwight's youngest daughter is "pinch-faced and scrawny, and on the back of her head she had a bald spot the size of a silver dollar (8.1). We later learn that she's been abused, since Dwight promises to "snatch [Jack] bald-headed." (10.42) Despite that, she doesn't do much to help Jack out of his predicament. She's more attached to Jack's mother, and "felt abandoned after my mother left." (28.1) Pearl doesn't play much of a role in the story, though her abuse makes it clear that Jack isn't the only one who Dwight puts the hurt on. Stupid Dwight.
