Character Analysis
Skipper is Jack's older stepbrother, and like a lot of people Jack has faith in, he lets Jack down. He refurbishes an old Ford with the intention of going down to Mexico with it. He even "took a job at the power company and continued living at home so he could put all his money into the car." (13.1) Jack thinks he's going to invite him to go down to Mexico with him, but that all vanishes. Actually it's a good thing: the car gets trashed, destroying one of Skipper's dreams as solidly as Jack's. The rain falls on everyone in Chinook, as Skipper's little incident shows us so clearly.
