We Were Liars Chapter 66 Summary

  • Back to summer fifteen. Gat and Cadence raided the Clairmont pantry for chocolate in the middle of the night.
  • As they were looking for treats, the aunts came into the house, fighting, so Gat and Cadence hid and eavesdropped.
  • The aunts yelled at each other about the houses. Bess, the only sister who lived near Harris and Tipper in Boston, said she'd earned whatever houses she wanted by taking care of their mom.
  • Carrie said Bess agreed to the drawings for Cuddledown before it was built, so that was her house.
  • Bess said Carrie didn't need the money as much as she did, because Carrie had Ed. Oh, and nice job getting back at Harris by parading the brown people around the island year after year. (Nice job being racist, Bess.)
  • It ended with Carrie slapping Bess, the aunts slamming doors behind them, and Cadence and Gat hiding together, wishing they hadn't heard what they'd heard.
