The Tale of Despereaux Chapter 27 Summary

A Wish

  • That night, Mig tries to explain to Uncle what she saw. She says that she saw a princess, and that she wants to be a princess someday, too.
  • Uncle just laughs in her face and tells her that she's too ugly and dumb to be a princess. He even says that he wishes he hadn't traded her for the tablecloth and hen—because she's worthless. How nasty is that!
  • Uncle mocks her and then tells Mig that he doesn't want to hear any more foolish talk of princesses or crowns in his household.
