Mouse Blood, Yes
- When Despereaux enters the dungeons, he's momentarily horrified by the awful smell of the place and how dark it is. But he tries to be brave and strong.
- He rolls the spool of thread down the stairs, but it gets away from him and tumbles to the bottom of the stairs way too quickly. It's discovered by the rat named Botticelli.
- Botticelli's delighted to see the spool of red thread…and even more overjoyed when he smells the unmistakable presence of mouse blood.
