- At first, things were going well for the detectives. They'd only been on the case a couple hours when they found a lead (a.k.a. Blue Monkey).
- Since then, though? Nothing.
- The trail for the missing kids has gone cold and they aren't sure where to look next.
- Ear, Eye, and Arm decide to get a bite to eat at Mr. Thirsty's.
- While they are there, they overhear some guys named Fist and Knife talking to Granny about She Elephant. Finally, a solid lead.
- They call the General right away.
- Ear, Eye, and Arm head over to Knife and Fist, wanting to question them about the kids. That's when things go south.
- Eye tackles Knife to the ground, but Granny stands up for the guy and hits Eye.
- Fist pulls out his knife and throws it at Eye. It's headed toward Eye's heart when Mr. Thirsty intercepts it with a trusty brass tray. Phew.
- Everyone is still reeling from the scuffle when the General arrives to question them about the She Elephant.
- They claim they don't know where she lives exactly and aren't of much help.
- After the General leaves, Mr. Thirsty comes clean with the detectives.
- The She Elephant brews his beers. Rumor has it that she lives in some toxic waste dump called Dead Man's Vlei. Mr. Thirsty isn't even sure if that's true or not.
- He's also heard the She Elephant helps kidnap kids for the Masks—a local gang—who can't have them.
- Where to next? Ear, Eye, and Arm decide to head off to Dead Man's Vlei. They should at least check out this new lead.
