- Things have gone from bad to worse. On the plus side, they are finally out of Resthaven, but that's where the good news stops.
- Rita is sick and can hardly get around by herself; Trashman doesn't know how to get anywhere or help them out; they don't have enough money to get a taxi or find help; and to top it all off, they are in a shady part of town where the Masks live.
- Tendai decides they should take the subway since they can jump on without anybody noticing (or paying). They hop on and find that the next stop is Borrowdale.
- He remembers the Mellower talking about his mom living in Borrowdale.
- They get off the train at Borrowdale and Tendai instructs Rita to climb up to the street.
- She's still really weak and sick, but if they can just make it to the street, Tendai is convinced he can get them help.
