The Ear, the Eye, the Arm Chapter 26 Summary

  • Ear, Eye, and Arm hightail it out of Resthaven.
  • No one wants them in the village, and the detectives barely make it out of the gates and back into the city in one piece.
  • When they do, they run into cops. One of them notices that Arm has a crying baby in his arms and offers to help straightaway.
  • The cop gets the baby some formula while his partner tells the detectives that the Masks attacked a subway train last night.
  • Ear, Eye, and Arm head back home with Sekai. Arm can feel all of Sekai's emotions and thoughts, and it's pretty overwhelming.
  • He starts crying over the smallest things, just like a baby, and he realizes that he's bonded with Sekai in the way a parent would.
  • The Mellower comes over and praises the detectives again.
  • When Arm asks the guy if he could watch baby Sekai for a couple hours while they work, the Mellower rises to the challenge.
  • Dude's thrilled—he loves babies. Of course he does.
  • Arm is a little jealous knowing the Mellower will get to spend all day with Sekai while he's gone, but he knows he has to work hard to find the kids.
  • As they are leaving, Arm asks the Mellower if he's heard anything about the kids or the General offering a reward for info about them.
  • The Mellower clams up and gets jumpy all of a sudden.
  • Eye and Arm aren't sure what that's about, but it seems like the Mellower is hiding something.
