Character Analysis
Virginia's dad isn't as major a player in her story as her mom, but he's similarly clueless. Instead of a dedicated denier, though, he's more of a goofball kind of clueless. He wants Virginia to lose weight, but he's not exactly helpful, picking up bakery treats to eat while watching baseball together and then commenting on how good women in bikinis look during commercials. He's not mean-spirited, per say, just kind of oblivious, so when Virginia asks him to work on their communication together, he happily agrees.
