Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging Chapter 11 Summary

June: Pajama Party

  • Georgia's mum won't get out the house fast enough. She is looking for her tweezers when Georgia remembers she and Jas took them, so she races upstairs and puts them in Angus's basket. Then she calls Mum up so Angus can take the blame.
  • Rosie is the first to arrive for the sleepover festivities. She tells the girls that she and Sven have gotten to a six and a bit of seven on the group's scoring system, which starts at one with handholding and goes all the way up to number ten, a.k.a. "the full monty."
  • All the girls arrive and they get into their jimjams, which is adorable British speak for pajamas. At 11:00PM, Tom phones for Jas; he says he's coming over and bringing his friend Leo.
  • Tom, Leo, and Sven show up and they put on their jimjams too. Rosie and Sven disappear while the rest of the group watches Grease. Georgia enjoys Tom's company and tries really hard not to mention Robbie.
  • Tom and Jas and Leo and Ellen disappear, leaving the rest of the group to give each other dares. Georgia gets dared to strip naked and run down the street, and since the couples are all gone, she accepts the challenge and everyone has a good laugh about it. The couples come back and Georgia hides behind the others to get dressed. Tom says he should tell his brother what he's missing; Georgia begs him not to say anything.
  • After the boys go home, the girls start their slumber party talk about make-up and boys. They also have an extended conversation about lesbians. Rosie wonders how one becomes a lesbian, and how lesbians "enjoy" each other's company—if you know what we mean.
  • A few days later in school Georgia gets a note from Jackie, who wants everyone to ditch school so they can go downtown and shoplift. Georgia tries to hide from Jackie during lunch. Jackie and Alison find Georgia in a bathroom stall reading a magazine, though.
  • Jackie asks Georgia if she's ready to go and Georgia says she's not coming. Jackie mocks her and tries to intimidate her, but Georgia holds steady, then grabs Jackie's arm and twists it around her back.
  • The Stiff Dylans are playing a show at the Market Place and Georgia wonders if she should go.
  • Mum still won't allow Georgia to dye her hair blonde, and the argument between them leads to Mum throwing a slipper at Georgia.
  • After the Stiff Dylan gig, Georgia recounts the night. Georgia and her friends came up with some fun dance routines for the show, and Georgia worked it hard on the dance floor. During a break, she walked outside to get some air; Robbie came outside, too, and asked to speak with her. Georgia assumed it was about the whole Tom and Jas breakup thing, so she started to apologize, but then Robbie told her he didn't want to talk about those two. Then he kissed her and said he had wanted to do that for a long time. Another band member came outside then, though, and Robbie jumped away from Georgia. He said "See you later," so now Georgia's back to wondering what the heck that turn of phrase means.
  • When the show ended Robbie told Georgia he would call her, then he went over to Lindsay like nothing had happened.
  • Robbie doesn't call Georgia for a few days.
  • Georgia calls Jas and they discuss the issue. Jas says she'll ask Tom what's going on subtly, but then just yells the question at him from across her house. Even Jas's mum gets in on the conversation, much to Georgia's embarrassment.
  • At school, Lindsay confronts Georgia about the kiss. To Georgia's surprise, Robbie told Lindsay that Georgia kissed him and not the other way around. He said Georgia followed him outside and flung herself at him. Ugh. Lindsay warns Georgia to stay away from Robbie.
  • Georgia decides she hates Robbie again, but then a few hours later changes her mind. Because of course she does.
