Men in Black Lies and Deceit Quotes

How we cite our quotes: All quotations are from Men in Black.

Quote #1

KAY: We'll take it from here.

AGENT JANUS: Who the hell are you?

KAY: INS, Division 6.

KAY: Really? Who you got your money on, Dee?

DEE: Tough call, Kay.

These are the very first words out of Kay's mouth in the entire film and he's already starting with the lies. That's how important deceit is to the Men in Black operation. In Liar Liar, the joke is that a lawyer has to go a whole day without telling a lie and it's darn near impossible. If Kay had to go a whole day, we're pretty sure he'd implode.

Quote #2

BEATRICE: Edgar, what on Earth was that?

EDGAR BUG: Sugar.

BEATRICE: I've never seen sugar do that.

EDGAR BUG: Give me sugar. In water. More. More.

BEATRICE: Edgar, your skin is hanging off your bones.

EDGAR BUG (Looks in mirror:) Oh, yeah. There. Is that better?

(Beatrice faints.)

A giant bug walking around might be a little conspicuous, even for Manhattan. So the Bug must don a disguise and pretend to be a human. In other words, it isn't just the Men in Black. Deception is a survival strategy in this film.

Quote #3

JAY: What's the catch?

KAY: The catch. The catch is, you will sever every human contact. Nobody will ever know you exist anywhere. Ever. I'll give you to sunrise to think it over.

JAY: Hey, is it worth it?

KAY: Oh, yeah. It's worth it. If you're strong enough.

Later we'll learn that Kay doesn't want his memories from his time with the agency. So is he telling Jay the truth here or just lying to get Jay to join? Maybe he doesn't know if he's lying or not. You never can tell with this guy.
