Out of the Dust Chapter 74 Summary

Dust Pneumonia

  • Another minor character bites the dust—literally.
  • Pete Guymon, the delivery man for Mr. Hardly's store, dies of dust pneumonia, which is just like regular pneumonia, but worse because you basically choke on dust.
  • This creates problems because no one else knows how to handle the delivery goods in the truck—and as a result, the truck is still sitting in front of his house with the milk and fruit going bad inside it.
  • Mr. Hardly finds a new driver, but his son, Calb, doesn't like him as much as Pete. Calb plays basketball for the Wildcats and the new driver doesn't take an interest in sports the way Pete did.
