Sunday Afternoon at the Amarillo Hotel
- There's nothing like having your local celebrities featured on the radio from Texas to brighten things up after the return of the dust. Most of the town is packed into the Joyce City hardware store to hear Mad Dog, the Black Mesa Boys, and Arley perform live from Amarillo—for her part, Billie Jo feels devastated that she can't be performing with them.
- Mad Dog and the gang really tear it up and bring some excitement to the broken-down town. Everyone is clapping, cheering, and celebrating his success—except, perhaps, for Billie Jo. While she wants to be happy for Mad Dog, she's also jealous that he has gotten away, too.
