- Adam heads over to Gansey's apartment on his bicycle to find Ronan and Noah outside building some kind of a wooden ramp.
- Ronan tries to pick a fight as soon as Adam shows up, but Adam is too tired to deal with it. Ronan isn't even going to school anymore, and Aglionby has been sending him letters warning of his expulsion. Adam doesn't even envy Ronan his money; he envies all the time that he has on his hands because he is rich.
- Unlike his friends, Adam has to work three jobs on top of going to school. He just wants to graduate so that he can make a life for himself.
- Adam decided to go to Aglionby two years ago, after being stuck in the cashier line at the grocery store because he couldn't pay for the food. He had watched an Aglionby boy glide past, swipe his credit card, and leave the store in just a few seconds. He wanted to be like that.
- He asks Ronan for his phone and calls the number that Blue gave him. She thanks him for the flowers and Adam asks her if she wants to go exploring with them. And then he asks if she's okay with going in a helicopter.
- Even though her mom told her not to hang out with any of the Aglionby boys, Blue can't resist the intrigue of the offer. She tells him that she'll come along.
