The Raven Boys Chapter 31 Summary

  • That Friday is a scheduled teacher workday, which means that the Aglionby boys have the day off. Gansey goes home to visit his mother for her birthday, and Adam hangs out at Gansey's apartment, bored and lonesome.
  • There is a knock on the door and Adam opens it to find that Declan is there and demanding to see Ronan. Apparently, Ronan is getting kicked out of school because his grades are so terrible.
  • After Declan leaves, Adam reads the letter from the school and dials Gansey's number—poor Gansey will have to figure out a way to make this right.
  • Somewhere outside of Washington D.C., Gansey hangs out at his parents' sprawling mansion, listening to the argument brewing between his mother and his sister. He goes out into his dad's big garage and sits in one of the many expensive vintage cars.
  • He calls the number of the school's guidance counselor and convinces him to give Ronan Lynch another chance. It's not easy and ends up costing thirty thousand dollars in the form of a donation to the school, but Gansey manages to smooth things over.
  • Gansey's father finds him in the garage and they make some stilted conversation about cars and school. They don't talk about anything real that's going on in their lives, and they certainly don't touch on Gansey's new ley line project.
