Unforgiven Scene 19 Summary

  • It's daylight.
  • The men are in a bar (presumably the place Alice told them about previously).
  • A few girls are there, and want to leave, but the Kid wants another "advance" on his payment (i.e. he wants more sex).
  • The girl refuses, and she and her friend make to leave.
  • Ned tells them to bring some medicine if they can, and enough food for three days.
  • The Kid is really irritated. He wants to go kill the cowboys the next day.
  • Ned says he doesn't kill anybody without Will. The Kid can't believe it.
  • He says they don't need Will, and that he's just a "broken-down pig farmer" anyway.
  • The Kid shouts after the women, telling them not to worry because he and Ned will take care of the job.
  • He looks at two makeshift drawings of Quick Mike and Davey.
  • The scene shifts, and Ned and the Kid are sitting by a fire. Will moans his dead wife's name (Claudia).
  • Then he awakes, and tells Ned he's seen the Angel of Death. He says he's afraid of dying. He's convinced he's dying.
  • He says he also saw his dead wife Claudia, who was covered with worms.
  • He tells Ned not to tell his kids about any of the things he's done. Then he passes back out.
  • The Kid has been observing, a puzzled look on his face.
  • Later, Ned and the Kid are sitting by the fire, and the Kid asks Ned: "He's gonna die, ain't he?"
  • Ned says maybe. The Kid asks what happens then.
  • Ned says they'll bury him, but that's not what the kid wants to know. He wants to know if Ned will still help him kill the two cowboys.
  • Ned doesn't give him an answer.
  • The Kid starts boasting again, telling Ned that he's a killer, that he's killed before, and that he's more of a killer than Will at this point.
  • Ned gives the Kid a look that seems to say, "Whatever, kid."
