- Davey and Mike are leading a bunch of ponies into Big Whiskey. It must be spring now.
- They approach a house. Most of the women from the brothel are standing outside, including Delilah, whose wounds have healed.
- They all watch the men pass.
- Skinny meets them, and makes a few wise cracks.
- He orders the horses sent to the livery (i.e. the stable). He tries to take a horse from Davey, but Davey refuses to give it to him. The two he's been required to give are already in the livery with the others,
- Just then, the women start throwing hunks of dirt at the cowboys, and run them off.
- Quick Mike leaves, but Davey stays behind. The horse he refused to give to Skinny is for Delilah.
- "She's the best of the lot," he says.
- The girls refuse the man's gift, and run him off. They're insulted by the offer.
