Unforgiven Scene 20 Summary

  • An external shot of the little barn: the landscape, and the barn, is covered in snow.
  • Inside, Will wakes up to Delilah nursing him. He's startled.
  • So is she. "You ain't dead," she says.
  • They make some small talk, and Will realizes this is the one whose face was cut up.
  • He inquires after Ned and the Kid.
  • Delilah tells they went out scouting, looking for the cowboys over near Bar T (whatever that is).
  • Will learns that he's been recuperating at this barn for three days.
  • Hmmm, that's interesting. Jesus rose from the dead after three days…
  • Delilah offers him some water.
  • The scene shifts, and Will is sitting outside eating something. He says he notices things now that he didn't used to notice.
  • He asks Delilah if Little Bill is still looking for him.
  • He isn't. He thinks Will went south.
  • After some more talk, Delilah tells Will that Ned and the Kid have been taking advances on the payment.
  • Alice and Silky have been giving them "free ones" (i.e. letting them have sex with them).
  • Delilah sits down next to Will, and asks him he'd like a free one. He declines.
  • She thinks it has something to do with her face.
  • Will says that it doesn't, that he would choose her over the others if he wanted a free one. She's beautiful, he tells her. She's not "ugly" like he is.
  • He tells her that he can't take a "free one" on account of his wife.
  • Delilah is moved, and notes that she's met many men who weren't faithful to their wives.
  • She asks if Will's wife is back in Kansas.
  • He lies and says she is, watching over his kids.
