Will Grayson, Will Grayson Chapter 13 Summary

Will Grayson

  • Will wakes up to the sound of Tiny honking over and over again in his driveway. It's 5:43AM, but they need to get to school—now.
  • Tiny has been drinking quite a lot of Red Bull and he has a couple things to tell Will on the car ride over there. The most important one is that Tiny has decided that he needs to rewrite Tiny Dancer. He stayed up all night reworking it and the play now has a new title—Hold Me Closer. It's about love now.
  • At school, Tiny starts blocking new scenes in the auditorium and Will wonders why exactly Tiny had to wake him up. Well, Tiny had to tell someone didn't he? Sigh.
  • At lunch, Will finds out that Jane is sick. As in, so sick she had to spend the day at the botanical garden with her ex-boyfriend. Double sigh.
  • That night, Will tries to talk to Tiny about his Jane troubles, but he's still busy with Hold Me Closer rewrites and the other will grayson.
  • Will is starting to feel a bit like a sidekick, like Tiny is the superhero and Will is just tagging along on his adventures. He remembers when he and Tiny were younger and they would look out for each other. Will knows it's not the other will grayson's fault for what's happening now, but still.
  • And then suddenly, Will just has to see Jane. He calls Gary to ask for her address and then he just goes there. Outside the house, he texts Jane and then waits. Not that he's a stalker or anything…
  • Jane comes out and Will pretends to have a question about science. Specifically Schrödinger's cat, which Jane's favorite band—the Maybe Dead Cats—is named for.
  • The gist of Jane's explanation is that if you put a cat in a sealed box and you're not sure whether it's dead or alive until you open the box, the cat can't be both dead and alive while you're in the dark.
  • Will slightly begs to differ—after all, he both liked and didn't like Jane. That is until he opened the box (with some help from the ex-boyfriend) and figured out that he's totally into her.
  • This is all getting kind of complex, but Jane doesn't seem to mind. Maybe the cat is alive after all… Or maybe the cat just has a boyfriend.
