Will Grayson, Will Grayson Chapter 9 Summary

Will Grayson

  • Will might not always appreciate Tiny, but the guy knows how to help someone in need. He totally commiserates with poor will grayson.
  • Since Tiny clearly has things handled with the heartbroken will grayson, Will makes his way over to Jane, who's talking on the phone.
  • When she hangs up, Jane wants to know who Tiny's talking to.
  • Oh, that's just will grayson, Will explains. Yeah, it's been a trippy night for everyone.
  • Will and Jane decide to take a walk and he explains what happened that night. At the end of the story, Jane asks if Will has ever experienced an epiphany. Huh?
  • Actually, Jane says, she probably shouldn't be talking about this with Will at all, but it's about her ex-boyfriend.
  • Oh, man, Will thinks. Then he realizes the truth: He likes her. Will actually likes Jane. Darn it.
  • So Will proposes an idea—for the next ten minutes, they both tell each other the truth. About everything. He starts.
  • He tells Jane he likes her. Yes, it's lame, because now she's talking to the ex-boyfriend and now that he thinks about it he's actually kind of jealous and he likes her.
  • And Jane tells him that she used to date this guy named Randall and that she knew he would be at the concert that night. So he found her and told her that he'd had an epiphany—they should get back together. And he quoted an e.e. cummings poem to her. And also dedicated a song to her—Randall is the only person who knows her locker combination.
  • Will tells Jane he can't stand twerps who quote poetry, but he stops short of telling her the full truth about the song. That's not exactly a lie, is it?
  • Will tells her that he thinks being with her would be amazing and terrible at the same time. But maybe he feels this way because she's just supposed to be with this jerk, Randall?
  • They still have four minutes of truth when Will leans in to kiss Jane. Yes, Will likes her. He really likes her.
  • Finally Jane has to get home, so she hails a cab and Will walks back toward Tiny and will.
  • The two boys aren't in front of Frenchy's anymore, though. Will tries to call Tiny but can't get a hold of him, so after waiting a while, he decides that Tiny's gotten a ride back home.
  • That night before going to bed, Will goes online to read up on e.e. cummings. Take that, Randall.
  • The next morning at school, Will sees tons of posters up for Tiny Dancer. He slips a note in Jane's locker letting her know that e.e. cummings cheated on both of his wives. With prostitutes. Oh, it is on.
