Lockdown Chapter 17 Summary

  • It's dinnertime, and hot dogs are on the menu—broiled, like they're at a baseball game.
  • Class gets cancelled because a maintenance crew is working outside and it's too loud, so Reese retreats to the dayroom to watch TV.
  • He's thinking about group therapy. He doesn't think people were honest about their fears there, except for Toon.
  • Reese's secret fear, which he didn't feel comfortable enough to share with the group, is that he's going to be in and out of jail all his life.
  • Mr. Pugh told him that a lot of people come back to jail after they're released, and Reese thinks he's probably right.
  • Play comes over and tells Reese that King Kong and Diego are up to no good. Reese looks over and sure enough, the two seem to be conspiring.
  • Reese and Play are watching a Jerry Springer-type show. Mr. Wilson says it's demeaning, and you know, he's not wrong.
  • At bedtime, Reese notices his lights are still going out at 8:30PM. Diego stops by to say goodnight—oh, and also that King Kong is going to kill Toon.
  • Reese knows it's a setup. He thinks to himself that Toon needs Kat on his side.
