The Reformed Vampire Support Group Chapter 10 Summary

  • On the way to Wolgaroo Corner, Nina, Dave, and Father Ramon realize that they're not the only ones driving there: There's a car in front of them, and a car behind them.
  • They reach Barry McKinnon's place, and see a bunch of cars parked, just like Father Ramon said. Men are getting out of the cars and hurrying toward a gate in back of the house. No one's carrying booze or looking festive, so it's probably not a party.
  • The trio walks up to the gate, where a big, young guy with a scar on his face is standing. The man in front of the trio calls him Dermid and the two talk briefly before Dermid collects a silver bullet from him and lets him pass.
  • Father Ramon displays the silver bullet and speaks for the group, saying they're hoping for a word with Barry McKinnon. Dermid takes the bullet and tells them to follow the path. He also says his dad will be along soon.
  • Before ushering them along, Dermid leers and winks at Nina. She begins freaking out, thinking that maybe they've crashed a bachelor party, but as they walk along the track, they hear weird noises.
  • Dave thinks they've stumbled upon an illegal dogfighting ring. They reach a wire fence ringed by men, and peer in.
  • Inside the fence is a big hole like an empty swimming pool. As they get closer, Nina sees a giant creature inside—it has huge teeth and scars and doesn't look like any animal in existence.
  • A voice comes on over a loudspeaker system to announce a two-minute warning. The voice says that Reuben is the reigning champ, but the one he's about to fight, Orlando, is a strong contender.
  • Nina suddenly remembers the silver bullets, and she asks Dave if the creature might be a werewolf.
  • A hatch springs open to let in the new creature.
