- Nina really digs the scenery on the drive, and she and Dave chat about various things while Father Ramon sleeps.
- They also talk about what they're going to do when they reach Cobar and try to find this dude with the silver bullets. Do they just show up on his doorstep? Do they tell the truth?
- Next up in the exciting adventure: stopping to put gas in the van. Nina's eager to walk through the gas station because she hasn't been able to go out and explore anything for years.
- Aside: Nina's the only one in the group who hasn't been blooded, a.k.a. tempted by the scene of human blood. A vamp who faces this temptation and resists it (instead of giving in and biting the heck out of someone) can be trusted to keep an eye on a less-reliable vamp.
- After arguing, Dave finally agrees to let Nina come with him. Leaving her in the van with snoozing Father Ramon—who might get a nosebleed, after all—isn't ideal, either.
- As Dave and Nina come back to the van from the shop, though, they see two dudes standing by their van. Uh-oh…
- Dave and Nina hurriedly explain that the sound coming from the van is their pet guinea pigs. The guys lose interest and walk away.
- Father Ramon takes over the driving, and they leave the gas station, feeling lucky.
