- The car that Nina, Dave, Father Ramon, and Reuben are in has storage room for a spare tire, and also a giant steel toolbox that someone Nina-sized could fit in. So they have a backup plan in case they don't get home by daybreak.
- Nina blacks out in the toolbox when the sun rises, and wakes up inside Father Ramon's garage. She lets Dave out of the car, and they go inside to find Father Ramon. Weirdly, there are no lights on.
- Then they realize that the gas burners are on, and an old heater is on, with a dry piece of cloth left nearby. Someone wanted the place to burn down.
- On a bed they find someone unconscious, and that someone is not Father Ramon. Then they find Father Ramon, also knocked out. At least no one's dead, right? But where's Reuben?
- They decide to call Sanford and ask for help bringing both men back to Nina's mom's house, because it's the safest place.
