Point of View

Linear

Unforgiven's a super-linear narrative. There are no flashbacks, flash-forwards, voice overs, etc. The film is, however, framed by two short blurbs on the screen that give us a brief overview of Munny's life (the beginning) and speculate on where life took him after the events of Big Whiskey (the end).

The one little thing the film does do is split time between Will and his crew, and Little Bill and Big Whiskey. So, for example, while Will and the Kid are in the process of killing Quick Mike, Bill is back in Big Whiskey whipping Ned.

Similarly, while Beauchamp and Bill are chatting away in the sheriff's office, they hear the storm clouds that we later see raining on Will and Ned. It's not always clear if events are supposed to be happening simultaneously or not, although the narrative suggests that they are.
