Chapter 16
- Theo and the gang head out to Nierkeeping in disguise—Rina's keeping things going at home. Along the way, they make a pit stop at a noble's country estate, where Stock and a bunch of guys Theo has never met are waiting for them; one of them is Keller, and another is Dr. Torrens.
- Torrens reveals Cabbarus's plans to make himself the next king. Florian doesn't care who the ruler is—he hates the whole system of monarchy, though Torrens likes it, provided the king is good. Most importantly, though, both sides agree that Cabbarus has to be taken down.
- Theo realizes that, in order to improve his arsenal, Florian plans to attack Nierkeeping. His people want arms and Theo wants his friends, so it's a win-win (minus the bloodshed). Stock gives Theo a pistol, which Theo isn't crazy about.
