Chapter 27
- Torrens helps Mickle heal by getting her to walk in the gardens, where Theo meets her. They address the awkwardness of her now being a princess—Is she Mickle, royalty, or both? Is she going to be queen one day? Not if anti-monarchist Florian has his way—but no matter, Mickle insists she and Theo will stick together whatever happens.
- Las Bombas and Musket show up again because LB lost the reward to someone who tricked him out of the money. They plan to go seek their fortune again, but Theo isn't sure what he wants to do. Torrens wants him to travel Westmark and to see what the people want.
- Theo suggests that Mickle come with him, but Mickle has to stay with her parents—so she encourages Theo to go, but then come right back to her.
