The Fallen Star Chapter 26 Summary

  • As they drive into town, Alex demands to know what else Laylen told Gemma. She lies and says that she didn't learn anything else, and even though Alex doesn't believe her, there's nothing that he can do to drag the information out of her.
  • She also asks him if it's possible to see a vision without the Foreseer's ball since that's what she suspects has been happening to her.
  • He says that it would take a very strong Foreseer to do so and then asks if she's seen something without the crystal ball. Gemma immediately lies and says that she hasn't.
  • Then his phone rings and Alex picks up to talk to Stephan. He leaves the car and goes outside to talk, but Gemma cracks open the window to listen in on his conversation.
  • She can hear him say something about how she's getting suspicious, and how he's having a hard time lying to her. Hmm, that doesn't sound good.
  • Alex returns to the car and says that Stephan is on his way. He also tells her that Aislin and Laylen are safe, which brightens her mood. Apparently Stephan sent them on some sort of errand.
  • They go to the grocery store to get some supplies, and Gemma asks Alex where everyone was when he couldn't get a hold of them. He just shrugs it off and tells her to get some chips.
  • According to Stephan, he went back to Vegas and showed up just in time to save Aislin and Laylen from getting killed by the Death Walkers. This all sounds a little too neat for Gemma's taste, though.
  • She acts skeptical and Alex tells her not to believe everything that Laylen tells her—he claims Laylen is just holding a grudge against Stephan for kicking him out after he turned into a vampire.
  • This doesn't convince Gemma at all since she thinks that Laylen is a perfectly nice guy, so they start to argue and can feel the sparks flying between them again.
  • At the checkout counter, Alex flirts with the cashier, which totally annoys Gemma. She goes to check out the magazine stand when a strange guy with blond hair starts chatting her up. He says that his name is Nicholas.
  • She catches a glimpse of a tattoo of an S and a circle on his wrist and wonders if it's just a tattoo… or if it's another mark.
  • She tells him that she has to go and he says that maybe they can go out sometime. Alex appears by her side and pulls her away as quickly as he can.
  • In the car, he starts to chastise her for talking to a stranger, which obviously irritates her. He tells her that she should have just walked away and she gets mad at him for flirting with the cashier. Go team.
  • When Alex parks the car at the cabin, Gemma jumps out and walks inside without waiting for him or helping with the groceries.
  • As soon as she passes the kitchen, though, she hears a voice say her name. Then a hand covers her mouth and she hears Nicholas tell her that he's not going to hurt her. That's not very convincing at all…
