- Gemma comes home to find that her grandparents are still out. That's perfectly good news to her. She spends her time cleaning up her room, working on the report, and waiting for Alex to arrive.
- When he gets there, she invites him up to her room—which is super bare bones—and asks him where he wants to start.
- He says the report and she informs him that she's already done most of it. He tells her that he'll work on the map at home then, and Gemma takes this to mean that he wants to leave.
- Instead, though, he opts to stay and hang out with her. They're going to just talk, which is weird for someone like Gemma who doesn't have a lot of experience with socializing.
- Alex asks her if she's always liked being alone, and she says that it's only started bothering her lately. Then Alex tells her that he finds her very interesting, which makes her feel uncomfortable.
- Alex also brings up the fact that there's electricity between them. Gemma tries to deny it, but Alex says that she can tell him the truth and that she can trust him.
- He moves in closer to her and Gemma feels a bit faint from his proximity. Is he going to kiss her?
- But before that can happen, she hears Sophia's very angry voice asking what she's doing. Gemma and Alex jump apart.
- Gemma is completely mortified as she tries to salvage the situation by introducing Alex to Sophia.
- Her grandmother tells her that she needs to come downstairs and eat dinner with them—even though they never really eat dinner as a family.
- After Sophia goes back downstairs, Alex says that he should probably leave, too. He goes downstairs while Gemma sits in her room, feeling confused and embarrassed.
- As she steps down the stairs, though, she can hear Alex and Sophia talking. She starts listening in because she's curious, and is surprised to hear Sophia telling Alex that he knows the rules and shouldn't be getting close to Gemma. Whoa… what's going on?
- Alex retorts that someone named Stephan sent him here to get some answers from her, and that's what he's doing.
- They're still arguing when Gemma loses her balance and falls down the stairs. Immediately, the conversation stops.
- Now that her cover is busted, Gemma demands to know why they were talking about her like that. But both Sophia and Alex deny that they were talking about her at all.
