Chapter 111: December 15

  • This morning, while Chris was out, Alice heard the song "She's Leaving Home" and had a melt down. She wants to go home after Christmas, or maybe even before then.

Chapter 112: December 17

  • The little mecca for baby drug addicts that the girls created is starting to wear on Alice. She's sick of listening to them endlessly drone on about drugs, money, and whining about not having any of either.
  • She seems a bit confused about the hippie propaganda of the times—that a revolution is about to occur that will tear everything down, but then rebuild the world with love, sharing, and peace, man.

Chapter 113: December 18

  • The girls close up shop to take a little mini-holiday. They splurge on a fancy dinner and enjoy getting gussied up, but ultimately they're both pretty homesick due to all of the Christmas cheer that surrounds them.

Chapter 114: December 22

  • Alice finally caves and calls her mom to tell her that they'll be back on the first available plane. To say that both Alice and her mom are happy about this development would be a gross understatement.

Chapter 115: December 23

  • The reunions with their families are tear-filled and joyous.
  • Alice mentions that she feels like the prodigal son, and she might not be that far off.

Chapter 116: Later

  • Alice is feeing like she dodged a major bullet: She and Chris are showing off Polaroids of their little shop and telling people that they just set out to be on their own; no mention of their San Francisco disaster is made since they want to keep their families in the dark.
  • She is also relieved that there hasn't been any sign of Richie or Ted looking to get revenge.

Chapter 117: December 24

  • Alice is full of Christmas cheer and optimism about her future. She's been baking desserts with her family and all seems right in the world.

Chapter 118: December 25

  • As Christmas is a "special and sacred" day, Alice wants to use it to review and repent and recommit herself to sobriety.

Chapter 119: December 26

  • Alice feels like she's finally one of the adults; she enjoys helping clean up after the holiday festivities, and her mom has cut her some slack.
  • She is elated because she feels as though she is finally accepted by her family for who she is.

Chapter 120: December 27

  • She's still on cloud nine, claiming the Christmas spirit is still tangible in the air.
