One Whole and Perfect Day Chapter 24 Summary

The Drama Society

  • Lily's decided to take Operation: Get Daniel Steadman to Look at Her to the next level, so she's joining the drama club, where Daniel is playing the title role in Hamlet.
  • At least, that's what she wants to do, until the director tells her there are no parts left and her only option if she wants to be involved is to help the seventh graders paint scenery.
  • Seventh graders? Um, no thanks. Lily quietly tries to make another suggestion, but gives up.
  • At least she thinks she does. Suddenly, the director is all excited because he has the perfect part for her—he tells her to come to practice after school.
  • When Lily gets there, he hands her a script and tells her she'll be playing the incredibly dramatic role of… the prompter, who stays under the stage during rehearsals and performances.
  • Lily's disappointed that Daniel will only hear her voice, and that she'll only see his feet on the stage. But it's still better than nothing.
