One Whole and Perfect Day Chapter 32 Summary

Uninvited

  • Clara's mom's big moment has arrived: Rose has journeyed to Mercer Hall and is about to see her daughter's room, whether Clara wants her to or not.
  • Meanwhile, Jessaline wakes up sharply when she hears Rose knock on Clara's door, thinking that it's actually someone to see her.
  • She imagines a scenario that her parents have found out that she went to the hospitality school to find out about changing her major and are here to give her a piece of their mind.
  • In reality, Jessaline still hasn't taken the step of going to the administration to official fill out the paperwork. Her parents teach in the building next door and she's terrified they'll see her.
  • When she realizes that the knocking is actually at Clara's room and that Clara is at class right now, she goes to tell whoever is outside what's going on.
  • She meets Rose and tells her that she's usually at class, then the library or out with Lonnie. Too late, she realizes that Clara has been keeping her boyfriend from her parents. Oops.
  • Since she can't see Clara's room, Jessaline lets Rose in to see her own room. Rose is thrilled to see that the rooms are homey and warm and carpeted—no echoing hardwood floors here.
  • When Clara comes back from class, Jessaline tells her that Rose was there. Clara isn't really thrilled about that—not even when Jessaline shows her the homemade spring rolls she brought.
