Good friends will accompany you to hell and back… or in the case of Everneath, they'll take care of you after you get back from hell, and they might even take your place if you're supposed to go back there. Nikki used to be best friends with Jules, but disappearing for the Feed took a toll on that friendship. Nikki was good friends with Jack, too, back before they started dating. That relationship also took a hit during the Feed. So part of what Nikki's doing during her Return is trying to rebuild these friendships, or at least salvage them partway. Seems reasonable to us.
