Character Analysis
Zara is one of Florian's children, whom Theo meets in Jellinek's tavern. She's got auburn hair, which causes Florian to call her the "russet goddess" (12.23) of the group, and more often than not, Zara comes across as blunt and cynical. For example, Theo tells the group about leaving Mickle behind. Rina sighs about Theo's clear love for Mickle, but Zara's reaction to Theo's departure from his friends is brief and dismissive:
"It was stupid," said Zara. (12.29)
Well, no room for confusion about what Zara thinks there, now is there, Shmoopsters? Despite her sharp-tongued nature, though, Zara works with her friends, and even becomes Theo's printer's devil.
