I Am the Messenger Part 2 / Chapter J Summary

the color of her lips

  • Again Ed watches Angie and her little ones at the park; when her kids run off and play, Ed comes up to Angie with an ice cream.
  • He tells her he's seen her there a couple times and thought she could use one. It's kinda sweet… and kinda weird.
  • Luckily though, she takes the ice cream and enjoys it. We mean, really enjoys it, like she hasn't had an ice cream to herself in a really long time.
  • Those are some nice kids you've got there, Ed tells her; she agrees, but says that sometimes they're a handful.
  • Then she wants to know who he is, and why he gave her an ice cream randomly—but Ed just tells her it's not important.
  • She thanks him, and he notices the color of the ice cream on her lips.
  • Just then, one of her kids says her mom can have a bite of her ice cream next week.
