a moment of truth
- Lua and Marie want to thank Ed for giving them the lights, so they make him a coffee and give him an envelope. Inside is a handmade card from the kids. Adorable.
- They don't understand why Ed has done this, and he tells them they deserve it.
- The family has been there for a year and no one has every lifted a finger for them—Lua is blown away that Ed would do this when he doesn't even know them.
- Marie gives Ed a dark stone with a cross on it for luck.
- As Lua walks Ed out, he has a million questions, but he doesn't ask them; he knows Ed never lived there, and that no matter how he'd answer, Lua still wouldn't understand why this all happened.
- They say goodbye and Ed turns once more to see the lights.
