The Book of the Lion Chapter 14 Summary

  • They reach their ship, the Saint Agnes. Compared to the other ships they've been on, this one looks like a castle. Edmund watches in amazement as all sorts of provisions are carried on board.
  • As the ship gets ready to depart, though, Edmund struggles to stay on his feet. Again.
  • The first day at sea it's the same old story, and the Genoan sailors are amused as Edmund pukes his brains out.
  • Eventually he feels better. Well enough to drink wine, anyway, since the water carries disease. He then becomes well enough to wander around and make friends with the sailors who were making fun of him at first.
  • They pass a spice ship, getting close enough to it to look at the "infidels" who look exotic and are decked out in feathers and jewels. Edmund worries that they will try to take down the Saint Agnes. From across the water, they stare in fascination at Edmund's red hair lit by the sun.
