- That night, Edmund and Hubert pack for the Crusades. Well, Hubert packs… Edmund has no personal belongings.
- Edmund goes outside to empty a bucket of waste and feels that he's being watched. Sure enough, Rannulf soon has him by the arm. He has a dented helmet and he demands that Edmund repair it. The steel is heavy and Edmund finds it almost impossible to fix; to his great surprise, the pagan invokes God to give him strength. Edmund works at the steel until it is fixed.
